Inkjet printed copy paper: sewn into book forms, folded
Darknet
2016
The darknet is a restricted part of the internet used primarily for illegal purposes.
Each book in this work has been printed (black ink on black paper) with the Google search results for ‘what is the darknet?’ sewn into traditional book form and folded in such a way that they now bear little resemblance to books.
As soon as the viewer is drawn in to this work they are rejected, as the text is almost illegible and almost invisible due to the tight folding of the pages. They may still recognise the forms as books but feel spurned, unsure about how to interact, just as the average person does not know how to enter the darknet and find what’s within.
