Before becoming an artist, I spent 20+ years as a public servant - a very colourless existence. This self-portrait reflects the ways in which I began to change since leaving my 'black and white' job and becoming a full-time artist.

Ever so slowly, colour has tentatively seeped into my world and into my very being. An ingrained seriousness and level of weariness are still evident, but fun and colour are working their way from the outside in.
